For thousands and thousands of years artists have created art about the times they were living in. RIght from the beginning starting with the cave paintings of the ancient world, the artist communicated to others that they too were seeing the same thing. The artist had a divine right to see the world around themselves and express their voice within the environment they shared with the non-artists.
It was during the modern art era when artist rebelled against their shared world. From impressionism right down to abstract expressionism, modern artists were complete rebels. Rejecting the assumptions of the world around them, they pushed the language of art like never before. Seeking new forms of expression artists created amazing and original works of art that explored the hidden values of themselves and their own art.
Of course with every dawn comes a nightfall. The moment that of the modern art era ended is when my hero Andy Warhol and the rest of Pop Artist decided to create art about the popular world around themselves. The pop artist once again began painting images that communicated to others that they too were seeing the same thing.
