Here's a video about the prosthetics of Game of Thrones. I love this! Every time I get to see the art of a t.v. show or movie the better! I think prostectics are a type of second skin that an artist creates using their imagination.
The prosthetics feature stab wounds on the wildly handsome stomach of the actor Kit Harrington who plays Jon Snow. Another are thick, crusty skin on diseases riddled "Stone Men". One of my favorites are the wrinkled, blue skin of the White Walkers who are monsters from the bad ice cold world.
I love this because the prostectics remind me of a Pop artist named George Segal. Segal made a plaster sculpture using a mold of Ethel and Robert Scull. This type of art is not prosthetics, yet I feel like the artist working of a human body does indeed connect to the same vein of art making.
Also, Andy Warhol made several wonderful portraits of Ethel Scull. She was a patroness of the arts and I love her!
Watching this video makes me feel a little sad. I feel sad that Game of Thrones is coming to an end. I then remember that they're will alwasy be the books to read by George R.R. MArtin. So even though the she is ending, the story is not! <3
