"Basquiat Loved Photocopies So Much He Bought His Own Xerox Machine. Now the Artworks He Made With It Are Worth Millions" is an article by Eileen Kinsella at artnet.
Basquiat used xeros copies to create art. I love this. I love when artists use any media they can to create art. There aren't any rules for art. So using any material possible is a blessing.
To be honest I have never seen a Basquiat work of art. Someday I believe I will. What I have seen are moveis and documentaries about the artist and the art. Some of my favorite moments and art are when ANdy Warhol comes into his world.
Considering that the xeros copies are going for millions I stop and wonder about the price of art. Is art a statement of wealth or an expression of the soul? It seems more obvious to me that this is clearly both, at the same time. <3
