I believe art should be beaurtiful, meaningfull and serve no practical purpsose. Why do I believe this? Because in my lifetime i have seen art that was ugly, meaningless and used for money. These works of art have driven me to tears many times. I want to live in a world were great art surrounds society so that society can become a more peaceful place. I believe that ugly art has a right to exist, however it should not take up the entire space. There must be a balance! When I see beautiful images and objects I feel a spiritual connection to heaven. There is magic in beauty. The kind of magic that makes you stop and feel a tingling sensation in the body. A kind of calling from the universe that says "The world is an ugly place, yet right here and now we free from it all." This is why I believe in beauty.
Practicality in art is mostly craft. Which i also respect, but when craft is all that there is and all that anyone sees, then art work that is created purely from an expressive stand point only is pushed aside. This too must be balanced out.
I believe that art is a cycle. I believe that art has been stuck in a post-modern world. Now called ultra-post modern. I wish to look back into time, and see why classical art transcends it all.
