In an Artnet news article it is being reported that Leonardo's Salvator Mundi painting is missing!
The painting featuring Jesus Christ holding a crystal orb has been called the “male Mona Llisa” and sold this year for 450.3 million dollars. An Arabian prince (how glamorous) says he has no idea where the painting is after having purchased the painting. After all Salvator Mundi sold for such a high price one would think that painting's exact location would be well known about. I have a feeling the prince knows where the painting is, but claims not to in order to protect his own privacy.
If the painting does indeed get lost to time, then I think the reality of art and money is much more complex than I originally thought.. Just because a painting is worth a lot of money does not mean it will have a safe life. That’s a funny thing to think about.
