The other day I was at a university library. I wanted to read art books to help me with current art projects that I'm working on. To be honest going to any library is a real treat for me. While I was there I noticed something extremely interesting.
While I was walking around looking at for the books about art, I noticed the students were all sitting on tables looking into their computer screens. They all seemed so 21st century. I began to feel like the entirety of the libraries knowledge was absorbed into their machines, and that's why they chose the machines over the books.
As I went row by row of books, I noticed that some students were between the books shelves. Instead of looking at the books they were pleasurably laying on the ground talking, eating or on their computers. It was a scene that reminded of a rococo paintings, where the aristocrats are painted spending their time hanging out in fancy gardens.
What I thought and felt was that we live in a computer world now. A lot of us use our machines as if it were an extra appendage. I watched an interview of Bill Gates and felt like without him none us this would be possible. We are all living in the imaginations of tech icons. How amazing and thrilling. I feel inspired to create art about this brave new world.
