Some of the most fun times I've ever had we're given to me by video games.
I believe that video games are art and follow the same patterns of painting and sculpting. There are highs and their are lows. I want to talk about the highs of video games.
Much like the stability and strict rules of rennaissance paintings classic video games followed similar rules. Rules are what makes art works classic.
Visually there are similarities. One of my favorite video games is Mortal Kombat. Look at the background, full of calm faces, all are unform and pleasing. In the foreground are the main characters looking life like, but not overly detailed to point where the eyes hurt.
There's also the eruption of pagan violence. I loved beating the shit out of someone, physically fighting is not fun, but in fantasy and art it's amazing.
The rules are simple. Basic. Understandble. There's not too many options. Just straight forward like a line. Press A to punch and Press B to kick. Simplicity is classic.
I'd imagine that Mortal Kombat today is full of hyper realistic detail. And dramatic camera angles. The complex combinations of buttons to press are ever more elaborate.
I haven't played on a console video game in years. I think I need to get my hands on .them soon. I miss playing video games. <3
