It is universally acknowlegded that after a climax a fall must happen. Social media is no longer what it was. Instea of the social interaction there's an isolatating fall down a feed. A feed of random bits of info served by a.i. that has replaced the individual voice.
I was on twitter the other day and I noticed something odd. A facebook ad was on twifter. I thought to myself how odd that facebook needs more customers. But then agajn Ive heard people say that facebook is for old people now. As for myself I love facebook because I love using messenger to talk to people. But I can feel the slow abandoning of the social media giant. Why? because of dull algorithims maybe. Theres no more room for suprise, theres only the paternal hand of machine learning that guides gently. I guess this makes me feel sad.
Another is twitter. I miss the chronological way of displaying tweets from people. When I use twitter I feel a rush of energy of random tweets. It exciting at first, but then when I log out i feel like I've not actually seen anything worth remembering. I think thats kinda sad.
I have a japanese social media account Mixi. I made friends with a lot of older gay Japanese men. What I loved is that when my birthday came they sent me lots of sweet messages. They also post a lot about the weather. This makes me the most happy.
I think all in all I enjoyed myspace the most. The way I got to create my own page with awesome graphics. I loved how a person's creative persona was how their myspace page theme looked like.
Today everything is on a feed. There's no customization of colors or front pages. An endless scrolling of a.i. media is all thats left. It's no longer social, but settled. There's no more space for a creative myspace.
